Jan09 Option Expirations and Assignments

I had 1 assignment and quite a number of Jan09 option expirations.  Part of this is because some of them were originally LEAPS that I had sold trying to recover some value.

My 1 assignment was 2 AAPL 100 Call contracts in an IRA account.  I had originally purchased AAPL in Jan07 for $85.65 so I made $2842 after costs on the stock. I sold Covered Calls at various prices including rolling out and up for an additional profit of $2100.90.  I would have rolled out and up again but I did not have the cash in the account to close the current call.

The rest of the list is quite lengthy so I will just list them here without commentary at this time.  With the exception of HUM the rest were Covered Call expirations.  I will share some thoughts on them as I sell additional new Covered Calls.  If you take the trouble to read the list you may anticipate that there are several cases where I will need to berate myself some for owning them.  But then, they seemed like a good idea at the time. :-)   Or, maybe I am just smarter now.  At least I hope I am.

The summarized expirations in various accounts were:

  • 2 HUM 55 Puts
  • 5 ALSK 17.50 Calls
  • 2 ALSK 15 Calls
