CAMECO CORPORATION (CCJ) – Sold Jan11 Call

Today, I BTC 2 CCJ Dec09 28 Covered Calls and STO 2 CCJ Jan11 35 Covered Calls for a net deposit of $206.98 in an IRA account.  My basis for these CCJ shares is now 32.52, excluding dividends received.

CCJ pays a small dividend of .06 per quarter for a yield of about .74% on current market price of 30.68.  My yield upon my basis is a little less.

I didn’t originally really buy CCJ for its dividends but rather for its growth potential as a non-carbon producing fuel producer.  However, nuclear power plants have had less than a stellar reception.  I rolled the Covered Calls all the way out to Jan11 and up to the $35 strike in order to get a strike price above my basis and do so at a net credit to my account.  Doing so also increased my potential sale price by $7 per share or $1400 for the lot.  We’ll see a year from now how and if my CCJ story ends.  In the meantime, I will continue to collect my grand .06 ($12) per quarter.
