Investing background:
My name is Bill. I am 61 years old as of this writing (Mar08) and have been ”semi-”retired for 2 years. I say “semi-” because although I don’t have a regular job I just cannot think of myself as actually being retired.
I have been reading about (I really can’t say studying) investing in the stock market for a number of years. I had no money to invest so it was all hypothetical until sometime in the 1980′s when I was earning more than the monthly bills took away.
Early on it was pretty difficult to get access to decent information about companies. Of course that has all changed in the past few years. Now there is almost too much information available and lots of ways to slice and dice it.
Over the years, in particular since about 2001, I have moved from buying stocks to selling cash covered puts and selling covered calls on stocks that I happen to own for one reason or another.
A number of books, magazine articles and web sites have influenced my metamorphosis. From time to time I will review those sources and point you to Amazon or someplace to buy them if you should wish to do so.
I plan to post my trades and other investing thoughts on this site as they occur. This will serve as a journal for me (I have not been very diligent about it up to now) and may provide ideas to others.
I should point out that I am not certified to provide investment advice and that you should always do your own due diligence and/or consult your investment advisor prior to attempting to replicate anything I have done or am doing.
