Taking care of Mom and Granddaughter

in: General

It sure seems like it takes too long to write these posts, especially right after options expiration.  Maybe it does.  However, I need to fit writing and other blog activities around some other important activities.

We (my wife and I) take care of my mother in our home.  She had a stroke in Feb 2000 that paralyzed her right arm and leg and took away her ability to speak or write.  She has lived with us since August 2000 when we decided that the “skilled nursing” care facility was killing her.  There appeared to be very little skill or nursing there.  Her medical insurance is through Kaiser and they recommended the facility.  I could go on and on about HMOs in general and Kaiser in particular but that may be a story for another blog and day.  Anyway, mom will be 86 in July and, with our care and the help of a day nurse during the week, appears as if she will outlive me.

One of our sons and his daughter, our granddaughter, also live with us.  Her name is Bailey and she will be 2 years old in April.  She is very pretty and precious.  I spend most of my week days taking care of Bailey.  As you might guess, that is pretty much a full time job.  If I ever find time to get a photoblog up (I have narrowed template choices down to just a couple) I will post a picture of her.

Anyway, those are two of the primary reasons that it takes so long for me to get this blog up to date after options expiration.
